Frequently Asked Questions
Subpixel answers common web design and development queries.
The following are the most frequently questions prospective clients have asked. If you have a question that is not already addressed here, feel free to send us your query by completing the online form found in the “Contact Us” section, and we will answer you as soon as possible.
Why should I have a website? Are there benefits of having one for my company?
Having a website enables your clients and potential clients to do business with you, 24 hours a day. The website will serve as a virtual service representative, where one can access details about your organization - like the company's contact information, products offered, services, special deals, etc. With an e-commerce website, it gets better; customers are able to trade with you from your website and finalise transactions online, from any part of the world.
By establishing your online presence through a website, you will see an increase in your clientele and customer satisfaction. Easily update your business-related particulars,
save money by sending information to your customers via newsletters and e-mail, and provide a helpful list of questions and answers for your customers directly on your site, to give you more time to deal with the main aspects of your business.
What is hosting and why do I need it? Will you provide hosting services for my website?
Once your website is completed the site must be placed on a web "Server" (a computer which is permanently connected to the Internet) for hosting. The server is what allows your site to be accessible anywhere around the world at any time. Hosting refers to the housing and serving of files for one or more websites.
Subpixel is purely a web design and development firm only. While we do not offer hosting services, we are happy to recommend a list of reasonably priced and efficient companies that do. We will also advise you about the ideal hosting requisites depending on the size and scope of the website.
What are the requisites to get my website up and running?
Subpixel will guide you through this entire process. We encourage customers to register their website domain name in their name or their Business name. This way, they are not locked out of the website ownership and access.
How much does a web site cost to build?
Web design rates may vary based on the number of pages, programming involved etc. In order to give you the most accurate quote, please contact us with your specifications by requesting a free quote from our Contact page.
What Content do I put on my site? How will I provide this Content?
In any website, content is paramount. With relevant content, we are able to proceed with the design process. If you are unable to write your content, the services of a copywriter would be required. Failure to have ready content will delay the launch of your site. Content is most easily submitted in Soft Format (preferable in a Word file). You can give it to us on a CD or send it by e-mail.
How long will it take to design and launch my website?
The time that it takes to design your website depends on several factors. If all content has been provided, you can expect a faster delivery period. For example, a 7 page website can be estimated to be completed within 7-10 days. Again, this period varies, depending on your overall satisfaction of the layout, content and usability of the site. Allow for additional time if further editing is required.
Will I be able to preview my website before it is launched?
Yes. All customers can review their website before it is finally launched. A testing address will be provided for private access and to view the website’s progress.
Once my website design is completed - what after sales service do you offer?
From the design part of the work that we have completed, Subpixel offers Free Content updates for the first year, from the date your site is brought online. After this period, charges apply for updating. If you are comfortable doing it independently, you can choose to do so. Note: The free updates does not include redesigning the website.
Who owns the website once the design is completed?
Once full payment for the website has been made to Subpixel, it will be owned by your business.
